It seems to me like I’m one of the last people on the literate planet to know that the movie Clueless is based on Emma! Every time I told one of my friends about my lightbulb moment, they all seemed to know!
So, while I was listening to the book, I must admit that I found it hard to initially like the book. The plot seemed so… elitist. A privileged girl with a lot of spare time, decides to take in a seemingly clueless girl and teach her the ways of high society – it just reeked of elitism to me. As the book went on, I was introduced to Mr. Elton. Besides Elton John, the only other place I had heard that name before this book, was in the movie Clueless. Since I have practically memorised that entire movie over the years, something in the deep, dark synapses of my brain sparked and I connected the dots! Tuh Dah!
“Cher: If it’s a concussion, you have to keep her conscious, okay? Ask her questions.
Elton: What’s seven times seven?
Cher: Stuff she knows!!!”
And since then, I can’t stop smiling as I listen to the book! If you haven’t already read it, I definitely recommend it to all my fellow Clueless fans out there!
