Makeup makeup makeup! *sigh*
Instead of a rambly intro, let’s get right into it.
The Balm Schwing Liquid Liner – I can’t say enough good things about this liner. Being brown-skinned, I’ve always been on the hunt for the blackest liquid liner I could find. When I came across this one from Balm Cosmetics, the heavens parted and the choir sang. This was it. Its intensely black, lasts forever, and doesn’t crack after hours of wear. I’m gonna go as far as to say Holy Grail here. Its balm-tastic! (Ok, I promise I won’t say anything that cheesy again.)
Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Zero – In keeping with my search for the blackest liquid liner, I’ve also been searching for the blackest kohl liner. And then I found it. Its black, it’s soft, and lasts. I feel like everyone’s said so many amazing things about it, that I’d just be adding to the noise. But I’ll definitely say that’s it’s something I will absolutely repurchase.
Mac Brow Pencil in Stud – (Not pictured) – I tried loving Anastasia’s brow pencil – I truly did. I still do love the spooly that comes behind every one of the pencils. But I couldn’t ever get it to look just right. I tried using 2 different colours, spoolies, prayer, rain dances – everything. It never really quite worked. Then one day, one of my Anastasia pencils was down to the nub, and I reached for my old mac one which was just lying there, hurt, that I had dropped it for something new. And… It was perfect. My brows looked amazing and it had taken far less effort than the day before. Without wasting any time, I crowned my Mac Brow Pencil as my eternal fave. (Ok I might’ve lied a little bit about the cheese-factor.) Now I use my Anastasia Brow Pencils for their awesome spoolies, and that’s about it.
Benefit They’re Real Mascara – What can I say about this product? It does what I want it to, and doesn’t get spoiled in 3 measly months. I’m in love with it. It leaves my average lashes looking long, voluminous, and lovely.
Laura Mercier Translucent Powder – If you don’t have this already… come on! Just do it. It’s fine milled, its translucent, it works all over the face, including under your eyes – it’s just perfect!
Instant Volume HC Lip Gloss – This was one of those products I literally picked up on a whim, at the drugstore. I was in SuperDrug in Dubai Mall and saw it, played with it, and bought it. Now it’s a product I can’t live without. I really do hope that it’s not a fly-by-night product in Dubai, and that it sticks around, because I’m hooked on this gloss’ soft pink colour. It’s perfect to wear above a nude pink lipstick, or just on its own – it gives my lips this pretty soft pinky glowy effect that I love so much. It doesn’t really do much by way of plumping, but I absolutely adore its dimensional soft pink colour.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer – Without wanting to sound elitist, I tend to be a little apprehensive about drugstore brands. My logic has always been ‘well, why would they charge so much less? Don’t you get what you pay for?’ However, my go-to YouTubers made such a big deal about this, and I’ve gotta admit – it’s really quite good. It’s a full coverage concealer, which means a little goes a long way. I put it on directly, spray a dense concealer brush with fix-plus, and blend it out – and it’s just great.
This isn’t so much of a ‘regrets’ list, as much as an ‘I’m bored and wanna play with something new’ list.
Make Up Forever Ultra HD Foundation – I was one of those people who was counting down the weeks and days to when this product would release in Dubai. I was SO EXCITED to really and truly have a foundation that looked just like skin. While this does – maybe it’s just me – but I really love a soft, dewey look for my skin, and this doesn’t really do that. I know I can place a highlighter glow strategically after, but I just don’t want to, for everyday makeup. Its definitely a good product, but maybe I need to find a better primer under it for myself.
Thanks for reading 🙂 I’ll try not to be so rambly next time!
